“Sailing Together to a Greener Future”—the 2nd China-Norway Green Cooperation Seminar Successfully Held in Oslo
On June 4, the Chinese Embassy in Oslo held the 2nd China-Norway Green Cooperation Seminar:" Sailing Together to a Greener Future”. The event brought together over 150 participants, including representatives from Norway’s Ministry of Trade, Industry and Fisheries, the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association, Nor-Shipping, China’s Ministry of Transport, the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Machinery Sub-Council, and more than 60 leading enterprises from both countries. The discussions focused on green transition and emission reduction in maritime industry.
Ambassador Hou Yue said in her opening remarks that “Chinese Smart Manufacturing plus Norwegian Technology” has become a shining symbol of bilateral cooperation in the maritime sector. Both sides should fully leverage the Dialogue on Green Transition to take decisive action against headwinds, foster green innovation, and actively pursue opportunities for cooperation. We should work together to oppose protectionism and unilateral actions, and take concrete steps to safeguard international fairness and justice.
State Secretary to the Norwegian Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy, Mr. Even Sagebakken, along with other speakers from Norway, noted that China and Norway share common ground on free trade and green transition. With strong industrial complementarities, both sides are well-positioned to deepen cooperation and work together to reduce global shipping emissions and promote sustainable development.
